Vocal Career
Barrett got into singing almost by accident during Middle School, when he auditioned for Shrek the Musical. He had no idea how much he would fall in love with musical theatre, which later lead to a love of opera when he joined the UNCSA Opera Chorus in their 2022 production of Donizetti's Linda Di Chamonix. Barrett has also taken part in the UNCSA Opera Scenes, playing both Antonio and Bartolo in their abridged Marriage of Figaro. His newfound love of opera did not stop him from participating in UNCSA's 2025 Drama production of Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812, where he both sang in the ensemble and played the accordion, sometimes simultaneously.
In addition, he has done performances of both musical theatre and opera repertoire, from Sweeney Todd and Les Misérables to The Magic Flute and Macbeth.
